Texas Health Presbyterian Perot Center Renovation & Expansion

PROJECT Overview

For over 30 years, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas has been dedicated to the care of women and infants through the Margot Perot Center for Women and Infants. Recognizing the growing need for specialized newborn care, the hospital sought to enhance its services and reaffirm its leadership in neonatal and maternal care.

In response to projections that over 2,000 sick infants would require care in 2007, the hospital prioritized two key initiatives: the Special Care Nursery and the Perot Mother-Baby projects. The first, the Special Care Nursery, was completed in July 2007.

This project transformed 24,000 square feet of existing space into a state-of-the-art Special Care Nursery, replacing the former 2,000-square-foot Intermediate NICU and the 320-square-foot Special Care Nursery. The renovation occurred within the active obstetrical and postpartum suites on the 4th and 5th floors of the Margot Perot Building.

To minimize disruption to ongoing hospital operations and patient care, the project was divided into three phases. This phased approach allowed the team to execute the renovation efficiently while maintaining a high standard of care for patients and staff throughout the construction process.
