Austin was awarded the design-build assignment for the Tampa International Airport Consolidated Rental Car Center, which includes 3,621 ready car return spaces and a multi-level quick turnaround area (QTA) with 144 fueling dispensers and 30 car wash bays. The facility features a rental car garage, service areas, four service centers, a customer service area with RAC counters, and a connection to the Automated People Mover (APM). The APM system includes three stations and a 1.4-mile guideway connecting the main terminal to the Rental Car Center (RCC) and Economy Parking Garage. It also has a Maintenance and Storage facility for the APM system. The project involved integrating the train station, renovating terminal spaces, adding vertical transportation, and relocating Southwest Airlines ticketing and baggage systems.
