PROJECT BRIEF

The IH30/President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) at Lake Ray Hubbard project was part of the eastern extension of the PGBT. The scope of work for Austin Bridge & Road’s (ABR) portion of the project consisted of the construction of northbound and southbound bridges (one mile each) over Lake Ray Hubbard, four bridges connecting IH-30 to and from the PGBT, and a six-span bridge at IH30. Additional work included cross streets on new locations, realignment of IH30 and frontage roads, and drainage. The project also encompassed utility adjustments, illumination, sign structures, intelligent transportation systems, signals, and pavement markings.

Austin Bridge & Road built the bridges over Lake Ray Hubbard using a unique gantry system to allow top down construction and minimize work performed from the water. Austin maintained existing six-lane highway traffic through a detailed traffic control pan that used temporary shoring and multiple traffic switches.
