The I-35E Phase 2 Expansion will strengthen one of North Texas’ most important travel corridors through a complete rebuilding of the main lanes, managed lanes, and frontage roads. The work supports TxDOT’s long-term vision to improve mobility, enhance safety, reduce congestion, and provide dependable travel options for the communities that rely on this route every day.
Covering approximately 6.3 miles, the project includes the full reconstruction and widening of the existing general-purpose lanes from six to eight. New auxiliary lanes improve access at entrance and exit points, while the frontage roads along the corridor are also rebuilt to modern standards. The two existing reversible managed lanes are reconstructed to increase capacity and improve overall traffic operations.
These improvements help create a more efficient regional connection and support the continuing growth of the Dallas Fort-Worth Metroplex.
