PROJECT BRIEF

As part of the 300 acre American Airlines upgrade and renovation project, Austin Bridge & Road built a 500+ foot long pedestrian bridge connecting the south and central campuses, traversing a tributary to the Trinity River that is teeming with natural wildlife. The custom, steel and concrete, pedestrian and bicycle path is more than 20 feet above the tributary at its highest, and is supported by twelve, slender steel v-shaped columns. It is 14 feet wide and equipped with custom, LED handrails. The bridge is designed to also accommodate a fleet of autonomous people-moving vehicles.
