Austin constructed two steel truss railroad bridges over the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. This project also included a three-span railroad bridge over Regal Row with vehicular traffic. As an innovative approach in lieu of trucking, Austin railed in the H piles, which allowed longer segments to be transported. This minimized the number of required splices and saved time. A process for locking and tagging out equipment was developed to eliminate long equipment transport each day, resulting in cost and schedule savings.
