DALLAS, Texas – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) recognized Austin Commercial’s safety efforts for 2019 with the Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) Platinum Award. Founded in 1989 as a safety benchmarking and improvement tool, STEP has grown into a world-class safety management system designed to improve safety performance in participating companies.
“Austin Commercial appreciates greatly the leadership from national construction associations that recognize and set the highest standards for safety programs and performance in our industry,” said Brad Brown, President of Austin Commercial.
This year’s award marks the 10th STEP Award for Austin Commercial since 2011, and its seventh consecutive Platinum Award, the association’s second-highest honor. Such recognition from the industry underscores Austin’s core value of safety and its sustained efforts to achieve zero workplace incidents. As an employee-owned company, Austin places the responsibility for safety on each employee-owner, to ensure every worker goes home in the same condition as they arrived.
“Collaborative relationships with all project stakeholders and recognition from our owners for a job well done is better than any trophy on a shelf,” said Brown. “If we were to receive additional recognition for anything, I hope it would be our safety program and efforts on our project sites to keep people safe. That truly represents a team effort!”
