DENVER – At the Willis Towers Watson Construction Safety Excellence Awards at the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) conference, Austin Commercial was honored twice by AGC, receiving both the 2019 Construction Safety Excellence Award (CSEA) – First Place in Construction Management, and the 2019 National Diversity & Inclusion Excellence Award – Large Contractor Category.
The CSEA program recognizes construction firms across the industry that excel at safety performance. CSEA closely examines each firm’s commitment to safety and occupational health management, as well as risk control. The CSEA selection process is noted for its comprehensive approach, as judges look for evidence of commitment by company management, active employee participation, safety training, work site hazard identification and control, and safety program innovation. Austin Commercial’s top Core Value is Safety, having won this award twice previously, and celebrating their safest year to date in 2018.
“Construction firms have many important obligations to meet in completing projects, but their most fundamental commitment is to ensure the safety of their workers,” said Eddie Stewart, president of Associated General Contractors of America. “These award winners have demonstrated the most effective and innovative ways to keep their job sites safe and their workers out of harm’s way.”
The AGC Diversity & Inclusion Excellence Award honors AGC members that commit to advancing diversity and fostering a culture of inclusion within their workforce, supply chain, and in the communities they serve. By showcasing and recognizing best practices from companies that successfully develop and deliver diversity and inclusion initiatives, award winners can share their track record of achievement and commitment with other AGC member companies and the industry. This is the second consecutive year Austin has received this recognition.
“These awards recognize firms that have established outstanding programs that have helped make the construction industry a more diverse, inclusive, and better sector in which to work,” said Stewart. “By making our industry more diverse, we can solve a lot of our workforce challenges, and become a better, safer and stronger industry.”
“Awards and industry recognition are always fulfilling, most importantly for our employee-owners and teams who work tirelessly to deliver results for our customers,” said Brad Brown, president of Austin Commercial. “Safety and diversity awards are especially meaningful because they recognize performance and programs that we’ve developed and refined over time, and are foundational to our values and culture. It’s who we are, and what we mean when we say, ‘We Own It.’”
