Performance Improvement Councils (PIC)

Austin’s Performance Improvement Council (PIC) process is a means by which employee-owners participate in problem-solving and decision-making for the purpose of improving the company’s performance. The process is directed on a company-wide basis by the Corporate PIC Steering Committee, comprised of the presidents of Austin’s operating companies and the senior officers of the parent company, Austin Industries. Each Austin operating company has a Company PIC that is comprised of the president and senior officers of the operating company, which oversees the PIC process within the operating company. Company PICs charter and create task PICs. A task PIC is comprised of employee-owners who meet regularly over a period of time to address a specific area of a company’s operation. This group develops and recommends strategies for improving performance within the subject area of the assignment. The PIC process for improving Austin’s performance dates back to 1983 and is an important part of the company’s operations.
