Featured Project
Austin Industrial Specialty Services recently completed a successful project at the American Electric Power (AEP) - H.W. Pirkey Power Plant in Hallsville, Texas. Austin provided all the scaffold support for the eight week outage at the 700-megawatt coal-fired power plant.
Activities at the plant included all boiler internal scaffolding to support AEP tube cleaning, repair and replacement; scaffolding in the wind box support for replacement of the V-bottom slope; and scaffolding in the duct work to support damper repair and expansion joint replacement. Externally, Austin provided scaffolding for the replacement of stack turning veins, hanger replacement, precipitator expansion joints, cold reheat line and bottom ash hoppers.
"A tremendous amount of work during the outage was unplanned, and we are proud to say, Austin still completed the project safely and on schedule," said Brent Ogden, AEP maintenance supervisor. "The success of this job was due in great part to the skill and dedication of Austin's employee-owners."
After successful completion of the outage, Austin employee-owners were recognized by AEP for their outstanding safety performance, knowledge of their craft and leadership of the site supervisors.
Austin Industrial Specialty Services was formed last year to offer scaffolding, insulation/abatement, painting/coatings and numerous systematic specialty craft services.
