- Description
-
The Baker Petrolite Plant 3 Expansion Project consisted of new and retrofit work performed under a fast-track reimbursable, competitively bid contract. The goal was to increase the capacity of the existing unit, which produces products designed to promote maximum production of oil and gas wells, by 150 percent.
The project required concurrent multiple material and equipment installation to various locations within the facility. Manpower and equipment allocation and re-allocation to meet these installations was required to eliminate down time and maintain schedule. This fast-paced work environment necessitated daily communication meetings and 3-week look-ahead schedules to ensure effective use of resources.
Austin's multi-disciplined work scope included: civil, structural, mechanical, piping and electrical/instrumentation. Austin subcontracted the painting, scaffolding, steam tracing, and insulation work. The majority of the work was installed daily in a full operating unit and included mini-outages for tie-in work.
