Working at Austin Industrial
Austin Industrial provides training and development programs to enhance leadership, management and technical skills, as well as internal promotions, job rotations and relocations to promote opportunities for increasing levels of growth and responsibility. Each of these opportunities allows employee-owners to improve both personally and professionally while contributing to the long-term success of our company.
Employee ownership creates a collaborative culture, as each individual strives for the good of the whole – likewise, the whole is concerned with the individual.
Some of the programs designed to foster this employee-ownership culture include:
Management Accountability Process (MAP)
MAP is a process designed to help direct the accomplishments and advancement of employee-owners. MAP sessions are encouraged every four months to set performance goals, measure past performance and assess direction in the organization. Emphasis is placed on individual development, determining the skills or abilities needed to reach performance/career goals, and identifying the best way to deliver those skills and knowledge to the employee-owner.
Performance Improvement Councils (PICs)
PICs provide a framework for collaborative problem-solving as employee-owners from various areas of the organization openly provide input and identify concerns about specific business issues in order to develop measures of improvement.
Open Door Policy
As a means of resolving workplace disputes, our open door policy (1) promotes open lines of communication, (2) reduces delay and difficulty in problem-solving and (3) results in win-win solutions. Facilitators and a telephone hotline provide confidential assistance.
On-the-job Training
On-the-job training is a proven method for learning new skills and expanding knowledge of the industry.
Formal Training
Our formal training increases knowledge and capabilities through classroom training. Managers work with direct reports to identify and address developmental needs. Computer software, time management, construction law, interviewing skills and job cost analysis are just a few of the classes that employee-owners can access.
