Employee-owners at Kimberly-Clark Share Resources During Shutdown in Utah
South Carolina to Utah, Austin Industrial employee-owners at two Kimberly-Clark facilities teamed up to complete a 10-day turnaround on schedule.
“The team from South Carolina included eight mechanics and ten electricians, all of who were very familiar with the work that needed to be done,” said Carl Carroll, mechanical foreman. “The projects included replacement and rework of nearly all of the package machinery, extensive air handling system additions, centerline controls and changes from shaft to servo moto drives (first of a kind).”
The South Carolina took complete control of the package handling installation to free up the Utah employee-owners to concentrate on all the other projects.
“The entire project was completed ahead of time, under budget and with an excellent start-up time,” Carroll said.“The help we received from the Augusta, Georgia office and the workers they sent were essential to the excellent outcome of this project.”
Austin’s ability to use mechanical and electrical resources from other locations enabled us to complete installations in the time expected, without compromising the quality of work or the money budgeted,” said Jay Johnson with Kimberly-Clark’s technical services in Utah.
