Austin Industrial Receives Workforce Development Excellence Award

News Body:

Austin Industrial recently received the gold level of the Houston Business Roundtable's (HBR) award for Craft Workforce Development Excellence.  This is the highest level of recognition for this excellence award.

Austin was nominated by three plant owners and was audited at the LyondellBasell site in Channelview, Texas.  Only two contractors in the large contractor category achieved this level.

"Austin Industrial continues to be the leading contractor in the Houston area when it comes to workforce development," said Butch Ford, manager of training and development.

During the last three semesters, Austin has had more than 300 employee-owners attend class at the local colleges (Lee, San Jacinto North and San Jacinto South).  This semester, Austin has about 125 trainees enrolled in classes covering pipefitting, electrical, instrumentation, millwright and welding.

"These dedicated employee-owners are attending after-hour classes to improve their skills and to move forward with their careers," said Ford.  "Many of these students are just beginning while others are nearing completion of their course work with the NCCER curriculum."
