As part of a fourteen story mixed use office facility, Austin Commercial constructed the Federal Reserve Automation System (FRAS) data center. The project also included warehouse space and a conference facility and a three level below grade parking garage. This nation-wide consolidation of the Federal Reserve Bank system into only three sites created a need to place a 30,000 SF data center into recently completed space in the new Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Austin Commercial served as Construction Manager/General Contractor for the new 1,000,000 SF Federal Reserve Bank. Austin worked with a fast-track schedule to retrofit existing space and convert it into a highly secured data center. In order to retrofit the space, additional systems were required to provide redundant power and mechanical requirements to eliminate “single points of failure”. Special systems included:
2,250 KVA UPS Back-up
3,200 KVA Emergency Generator Back-Up
670 Ton Chiller
Water Detection System
Fire Alarm
