This Tier III plus data center has been constructed in an existing manufacturing facility in a rural east coast region of the U.S. This project required major renovation of the existing facility including architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical modifications. Coordination between architect, engineer, and contractor was managed by Austin Commercial as program manager and owner’s representative.
This project will eventually consist of Phases I and II with modules turned over as they come on-line. Phase I included the installation of 7 - 2.25 MW generators, 2- 25,000 gallon fuel tanks, 7-420 ton chillers, and 2 – 50,000 gallon chilled water storage tanks and has 2N+ redundancy capability. The 65,000 square feet of white space was installed on a three foot raised floor in Phase I and consists of five separate data center modules. The first of the five were turned over in April ’08 and the final in January ’09. Infrastructure for Phase II has also been installed including foundations for generators, fuel tanks, and chillers to accommodate additional 45,000 square feet of Tier III space. *Actual photos not available.
