Austin Industries Tops Contractor List
Austin Industries has reclaimed the number one position on Texas Construction’s 2008 list of Top Texas Contractors. With $1.43 billion of revenue in Texas, Austin Industries is the largest and among the oldest construction companies in Texas. Comprised of three operating companies – Austin Bridge & Road, Austin Commercial and Austin Industrial – Austin Industries leads the way in civil, commercial and industrial construction. “Our longstanding commitment to integrity, performance, responsibility, safety and employee ownership is evident not only in our financial strength but in the power of our relationships,” said Ron Gafford, Chairman, President and CEO of Austin Industries. “We are proud to have statistics that back our reputation in the construction industry.”
Among the projects contributing to the 2007 revenue figure were the Hunt Consolidated Headquarters, Methodist Hospital Sugar Land and Children’s Medical Center Legacy constructed by Austin Commercial. Austin Bridge & Road projects included IH 30 reconstruction in Texarkana, Texas; US 82 in Greenville, Mississippi; Ray Rd. in Phoenix, Arizona. Austin Industrial projects included a catalyst unit for Albemarle Corporation in Bayport, Texas; the revamp/retrofit of a moth-balled gasoline chemical additive facility in Baytown, Texas; and ongoing maintenance and construction at six of LyondellBasell’s facilities in Channelview, Bayport, LaPorte, and Beaumont, Texas.
Austin Industries ranked number one in the general building category and number two in the transportation category of Texas Construction’s Top Contractors list.
