This commitment to ongoing improvement and increasingly diverse capabilities ensures the performance level needed to keep up with the dynamic needs of the industry.

The focus on employee-owners is shown through these programs:

Unique and Interesting Work Assignments

Austin Industries is comprised of three operating companies in three distinct construction industries. This diversity of work coupled with our internal job-posting program provides employee-owners with a wide range of opportunities in varying roles.

Development Programs and Training

Austin Industries offers employee-owners the opportunity to increase their knowledge and skills through classroom and online training. Managers work with direct reports to identify and address developmental needs. Classes on computer software, time management, construction law, interviewing skills and job cost analysis are just a few of the classes that Austin employee-owners can access.

Management Accountability Process (MAP)

MAP is a process designed to guide the accomplishments and advancement of employee-owners. It is an excellent opportunity for you and your manager to set performance goals, measure past performance, and assess your direction in the organization. Emphasis is put on individual development, determining the skills or abilities needed to reach your performance/career goals, and identifying the best way to deliver those skills and knowledge to you.

Internal Promotions and Job Opportunity Program

It is a practice to promote from within whenever possible. Austin has an average employee-owner tenure of nine years, and our senior management team has an average tenure of 20 years.

Austin Industries strives to fill job vacancies with the most qualified candidates available and to train and develop employee-owners for advancement to higher level positions.  Austin’s job opportunity program allows you possible advancement within the organization.

Job Rotations

Many of our career tracks encourage rotation through several operational areas, assuring that future leaders have a well-rounded view of the company.

Performance Improvement Councils (PICs)

Performance improvement councils provide a framework for collaborative problem-solving as employee-owners from various areas of the organization openly provide input and identify concerns about specific business issues in order to develop measures of improvement.

Competitive, Performance-based Pay and Benefits

Our employee-owners have peace of mind knowing they are covered by an outstanding benefits program.  Pay structures, bonus programs and long-term incentives are based on company performance, which is reviewed annually for compensation adjustments.

Austin Industries also offers an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), matching 401(k), group insurance, paid time off, flexible spending accounts (FSA), wellness programs, service recognition, employee referral program and employee discount programs as part of the entire benefits package offered to employee-owners.

Austin Open Door Hotline

Independent third-party facilitators assist employee-owners confidentially through the Austin Open Door Hotline. As a means for resolving workplace disputes, our open door policy:
• Promotes open lines of communication
• Reduces delay and difficulty in problem-solving
• Promotes win-win solutions

Austin Family Fund

Austin Industries Disaster Relief Fund was established in 2005 to assist employee-owners who were affected by the catastrophic hurricanes along the Gulf Coast. In 2011, in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Austin Industries Employee Stock Ownership Plan, Austin Industries renamed Austin Industries Disaster Relief Fund to Austin Family Fund, which continues to assist employee-owners and their family members who experience emergency events beyond their control.

College Recruiting

In addition to the opportunity to work on large construction projects, employment with Austin Industries will locate you in one of various metropolitan areas in the United States, providing you with many options and choices when you graduate.
