The Galveston County development entails the construction of a new half mile two-lane bridge over Dickinson Bayou on SH 146. This essential passageway is being built as part of the hurricane evacuation route and federal demonstration project. A significant feature of the project is the construction of a temporary trestle-type bridge. This attribute allows for the construction of the new structure with minimal disturbance to the delicate wetlands and environment of the location. Project consists of a ∏ mile long bridge rising to a height of 50 feet over Dickinson Bayou navigation channel, plus one mile of associated roadway.
