Description

The project consisted of the reconstruction and widening of Oak Lawn Avenue and the Dallas North Toll way, including the overpass from Oak Lawn Avenue.  The construction process includes the complete demolition of both the DNT with associated entrance and exit ramps, as well as Oak Lawn, along with  and the placement of new sub-base, base and asphalt and concrete paving throughout.  A total of eight new retaining walls, both Cast in place and MSE walls were constructed.  Two major bridge structures were rebuilt – Cedar Springs bridge over the DNT, which is a structural steel girder structure, as well as the DNT overpass over Oak Lawn Avenue, which is a pre-stressed concrete beam structure.  The DNT overpass over Oak Lawn was rebuilt in two phases to allow for the construction of the new bridge over heavy traffic.
